Counseling Groups
Transformation and Transition Through Grief
Support and bereavement groups may play an important role in the emotional well-being of clients as they are confronted with serious illness and/or a loss. Some participants claim the group gave them an emotional connection when they felt isolated from friends and family. This group offers information on coping and overcoming these feelings through the exchange of information and offers clients a chance to release powerful emotions they may otherwise keep to themselves.
Designed to be part psychoeducation and part supportive, this group meets each Wednesday from 12:30 – 2:00 PM via Zoom and is ongoing, meaning you can begin at any time.
Women and Healthy Relationships
This 10-week domestic violence-based psychoeducational women’s group offers a safe place for women to learn about and cope with the symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Members will also learn to identify the types of and red flags for relationship abuse, set healthy boundaries, provide self-care, build self-esteem, manage anger, effectively communicate, and heal from the abuse they have experienced. This group can benefit women who are currently involved in or have past involvement with toxic or abusive relationships, whether that relationship is with a partner or spouse, parent, boss, or friend.
This group meets for ten weeks, every other Monday, from 4:30 – 6:00 PM online via Zoom.
Men and Healthy Relationships
This 10-week domestic violence-based psychoeducational men’s group offers a safe place for men to learn about and cope with the symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Members will also learn to identify the types of and red flags for relationship abuse, set healthy boundaries, provide self-care, build self-esteem, manage anger, effectively communicate, and heal from the abuse they have experienced. Shoulder to Shoulder
The events on October 7th, 2023, and the subsequent war in and around Israel have brought about profound feelings of dread, anger, anxiety, and grief for many local members of the Jewish community and others. This is not a group to discuss politics; this is a group for support and to learn ways to cope with thoughts and feelings that might be overwhelming or confusing.
Jewish Family Service of the Desert (JFS) offers a group for anyone seeking support, a chance to share their feelings of sadness and worry, or a place to feel accepted.
The group Shoulder to Shoulder will meet via Zoom. Please contact our office if you are interested. This group is designed to help participants mitigate troublesome and sometimes debilitating feelings associated with the atrocities of Hamas’ actions and the subsequent rise in antisemitic words and actions throughout our country and the world.
This group is offered at no charge.
Most insurances are accepted. Cash pay and scholarships for qualified low-income clients are available.
